Spanish Language Week

DPS, GBN celebrated Spanish Language Week from 14 to 20 July 2021.

“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.” ? Nelson Mandela Foreign language study enhances listening skills and memory. One participates more effectively and responsibly in a multi-cultural world if one knows another language. DPS, GBN gives a creative and competent actualization that is broad in vision and embraces the multiplicity that characterizes its words and also gives the exposure of learning the foreign language and gain a better understanding of varied cultures and unfamiliar customs.

The students of DPS, GBN celebrated the Spanish week from July 14, 2021 - July 20, 2021 on the virtual platform. The week inculcated numerous activities to provide exposure to Hispanic culture to our students.

Students of Grades 4-10 mesmerized us with their dazzling performances. During this week, students learned various facets of the language through interactive discussions and videos. Glimpses of Spanish culture and traditions were exhibited via Spanish songs.

The enriching activities included Spanish song/poem recitation, sharing their experience of summer vacations using past tense and dancing on Spanish songs. Online class activities like Aerobics on Spanish songs, quizzes, making of the Spanish flag, and collage, describing barrio, conversations in Spanish were also conducted where students participated with zest and eagerness to learn. Our young chefs prepared Spanish cuisines and shared their culinary insight.

The language week with its bundle of joyous activities has truly been a fusion of learning and fun. This has indeed piqued students’ interest further evolving an understanding of differences in cultures of India and Spain.
